Why We Exist

Because every story deserves to be heard — and every culture deserves to be understood.

LINKHouse began with a simple realisation: many of the stories that shape our understanding of China — and of the people who carry Chinese heritage — are missing or misunderstood. Western perceptions often rely on stereotypes, while the rich, tender and complex voices from Chinese literature and everyday life remain unheard.

At the same time, many Chinese people living in the UK navigate a quiet loneliness: caught between cultures, unsure where their stories belong, and longing for spaces where they can share, be understood, and find community.

We believe literature and culture can bridge these gaps. Chinese stories have long explored anxiety, hope, identity, migration, and even life and death with a depth the modern world often lacks. When shared openly, these stories help people feel seen — whether they grew up in China, in the West, or somewhere in between.

LINKHouse exists to create a home for these conversations. A place where under-represented voices are heard, where culture becomes dialogue, and where people from all backgrounds can find connection, reflection, and understanding.
